Title:  Economic Analyst

Location: McLean, Virginia

The Role: As an Analyst, you will support, develop, and improveexisting models that support the forecast components of JD Power’s automotivepricing products. This role requires knowledge of working with database systemswith some experience working in a SQL environment. Some working knowledge ofdevelopment environment/tools ranging from R, Stata, Excel, etc. is desirable.The role will support all forecast initiatives including data quality control,accuracy testing and modeling, and implementation of analytical enhancementsand improvements into production level processes.


  • Recognize, follow, and analyze trends in the automotive market andprovide research from historical data to map these trends and determine howthey will influence future automotive demand and specifically vehicle pricesfor both the new and used sectors 
  • Perform data investigation on market data andstatistical output to suggest ideas and implement changes in methodology basedon output review
  • Prepare and present reports, charts, and data detailing market factorsthat influenced price performance and communicate these findings to forecastmanager and team to use this insight to improve forecasting techniques 
  • Work with forecast team to implement research into a production environment
  • Develop and manage processes that evaluate forecast accuracy. This willinclude evaluation of data and model design and input from subject matterexperts from other teams
  • Strong communication skills to enable a thorough understanding of aproblem or need and the ability to communicate findings and suggestions to ananalytically diverse audience 


  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ experience with quantitativeanalysis and predictive modeling involving statistical and analytical processesincluding linear and non-linear regressions, logit modeling, clusteringanalysis, etc. or Master’s degree in a related field
  • Strong math/analytical abilities and attention to details
  • Knowledge of general programming languages
  • Ability to work autonomously and follow through with thoughts and ideaswith minimal direction
  • Proficiency in utilizing SQL queries for data analysis
